More than once I have wondered why I'm not on Facebook. Other times, the thing has been more like a complaint than a question. Here try to give an answer. The main reason that I have an account on Facebook is that I am not happy with the cabinet which is participating in this network or any other. And do not say that those who think differently are wrong. It is a matter of taste and what makes us feel comfortable.
Just over two years, and several people had told me that I had unsuccessfully searched for Facebook. The answer then was the same as now: I am user. Some tried to convince me of the kindness of the most popular social network now.
Both the pitcher goes into the water, I won the curious and decided to open an account. Or maybe it was more to know the monster inside. It was just a July 27 evening (*), and all reserves in the world, I became a Facebook user. After completing the necessary data and to upload a photo, accepted the several invitations that some people had been sending me before opening the account. Then I wanted some names of acquaintances and friends invited to take mine. In the same period, more or less an hour, I received invitations friendship of some people.
That was my first concern. I did not understand (and I do not understand) how those people learned that it had opened an account on Facebook. It makes me spend the day watching users who are new to see if invited to be friends or not. Or maybe you have a system that warns them. I do not know. The fact is that I declined all such invitations. I found it very rare to have as a friend to someone who may not recognize me if I was going through the street and adding me to your list just because my name sounded or because I was someone I could learn to be on the list of friends of friends.
next day to open my email, I found more than 50 messages originated on Facebook. All related to people who invited me to be friends or people who accepted my invitation of friendship. I even found a post in which I communicated to my sister and I were friends now. Throughout the day, kept coming more and more such messages.

I hate to think how will the inboxes of people who receive messages when they label someone, when that someone says in the picture when a third party or that party says "I like" what another writes. And so on and exponentially.
24 hours later, I closed the account. It's a decision I regret not to date, and reaffirmed every time I see recommendations from experts on various aspects of Facebook.
Now when I say I will not reopen the account, the question almost always arises: what if someone wants to find? In my case is simple, because thanks to my contributions in Global Voices as translator and as author , find it relatively easy. I refer to the tests: a little over a month, that way I found a Swedish pen friend I had when I was 8. As I found on Facebook, decided to look for other means. I found it and since then we wrote almost daily.
